Aubree Harrington, PsyD

Originally from Virginia, Dr. Harrington earned three distinguished degrees from Virginia Tech in 2019: a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. During her undergraduate career, she gained extensive clinical experience, including providing therapeutic support at a women’s crisis shelter for survivors of domestic violence and conducting research and treatment at an autism clinic. She also participated in the Virginia Tech Student Police Academy, gaining early exposure to legal procedures and the intersection of law enforcement and behavioral science.

Dr. Harrington earned her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2024. Throughout her doctoral training, she delivered evidence-based interventions to male inmates in medium- and low-security correctional facilities, focusing on high-risk young adult offenders and targeting criminogenic risk factors in line with Bonta & Andrews’ research. She also provided therapy to court-mandated women in inpatient substance use treatment. In addition, Dr. Harrington delivered individual and couples therapy in community mental health settings, and conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations assessing diagnostic clarification and offering treatment recommendations. Alongside therapy, she conducted forensic assessments to support diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and risk management.

She completed her predoctoral internship at the Travis County Juvenile Probation Department in Austin, Texas, where she conducted forensic evaluations and therapy with juveniles in detention and residential facilities. Her work included assessing juveniles for risk to aid the court in determining appropriate placement. In addition, she gained extensive experience participating in a comprehensive DBT program for youth who were diverted through the mental health court to receive targeted treatment.

Following internship, Dr. Harrington completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Emory School of Medicine’s Psychiatry and Law Service, conducting complex forensic assessments across a broad spectrum, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, civil commitment, mitigation, violence and psychosexual risk, and immigration evaluations. She also piloted an innovative program adapting Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) for forensic populations to enhance competency and self-awareness, which she presented at the 2025 American Psychology-Law Society (AP-LS) conference and virtually through the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA).

Dr. Harrington is committed to delivering rigorous, impartial, and evidence-based forensic evaluations that inform the justice system and support fair outcomes. She is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently licensed in Georgia and North Carolina. She has submitted forensic evaluations for multiple state and federal courts and has testified on matters regarding competency to stand trial, violence risk, and civil commitment in courts across multiple states. She is PSYPACT eligible, with plans to obtain PSYPACT licensure to expand her practice nationally. Dr. Harrington is open to travel to offer her forensic services.
